Surfing as Self-Care
There’s something magical about paddling out and feeling the salt water against your skin. Surfing isn’t just a sport—it’s therapy. When you’re in the water, you’re fully present, letting go of stress and connecting with the moment. The endorphin rush from riding a wave not only boosts your mood but also builds confidence and resilience. Every wipeout teaches you to get back up, reinforcing a mindset of self-compassion and growth.

Self-love starts from within, and that means giving your body the nourishment it deserves. Eating well isn’t about restriction—it’s about providing yourself with the right fuel to perform, recover, and feel amazing.

Be Kind to Yourself
Self-love is also about the way you speak to yourself. Do you celebrate your progress, or are you too hard on yourself? Surfing teaches patience, persistence, and gratitude. Instead of focusing on what you haven’t mastered yet, celebrate every small win—whether it’s a longer ride, a smoother pop-up, or simply making it outside the break on a big day.
Practicing self-compassion and a positive mindset will not only improve your surfing but also make you more resilient in all aspects of life.

Expectations vs Reality
Let’s be honest for a second, we all surf way better in our heads then we do in reality, and I don’t know about you guys, but I am cool with that. In my head, I have the style and powerful surfing ability of Stephanie Gilmore, but the reality couldn’t be further from that. Who cares, as long as I am having fun, enjoying the waves and getting in the surf, I couldn’t care less what others may think of my surfing skills or if I look like a kook from time to time.
