With plenty of surf and sunshine for an autumn break, SW Portugal is an ideal destination whatever your surfing ability. The west coast of Portugal, with long, empty beaches, is a really unspoilt, magical corner of Europe. Enjoy the quality waves along this coastline during autumn. However there can be a cold current along this coast so a decent wetsuit is a must.
Head to the Algarve and the surf/party town of Lagos, for a more mellow surf experience and warmer temperatures. Lagos is a fun town with a traditional vibe and lots going on. Autumn is a prime time for surf along here and the west coast isn’t far too travel to from Lagos if that’s were the swell is.
