Boardmasters Foundation announces 2023 funds of £115,492 to be donated back into the local community.
2023 Applications Are Now Open For Local Charities And Organisations To Benefit.
£436,000 Raised Since The Foundation Was Founded In 2017.
Vision Nine, organisers of Cornwall’s surf and music festival Boardmasters, have announced that the 2023 event has raised a staggering £115,492 for the Boardmasters Foundation, the largest total of funds raised since the Foundation began.Individuals, groups, charities and organisations that fall under the Boardmasters Foundation key pillars of focus – Culture and Community – can now apply for funds as 2023 applications are now open.
Established in 2017, the Boardmasters Foundation was born out of the extended festival team’s desire to give back and support the culture and surrounding communities that are at the heart of the annual festival which takes place at Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay. The just-announced 2023 total funding pot means over £436,000 has been raised in total since the Foundation commenced its work, and the last two years alone has seen a 35% rise in these funds.
Applications are reviewed against the Foundation’s key pillars of focus – Community and Culture – and groups and organisations who are interested in applying should visit boardmasters.com/community/ to enter into the process. The closing date for applications is Friday 5th January at 5pm.
Boardmasters Foundation funds raised from the previous festival year were awarded to 38 different charities, projects, schools and initiatives across Cornwall and beyond including Wave Women UK, Schools Consent Project, Black Voices Cornwall, Cornwall Food Action, Newquay train station toilets, Concrete Waves and Children’s Hospice South West. Local schools included Mawgan-in-Pydar Community Primary School, Newquay Junior Academy, Newquay Tretherras, St Columb Major ACE Academy, St Columb Minor ACE Academy, The Bishops’ C of E Learning Academy, Trenance Learning Academy, Trevisker Community Primary School and Treviglas Academy.
CEO of Vision Nine, and founder of the Boardmasters Foundation, Andrew Topham, said: ‘We continue to be ambitious in our objective of building on, and growing, the annual Boardmasters Foundation fundraising and charitable donations year-on-year. Our 2023 total of over £115,000 is yet another rewarding success, meaning we can encourage even more Newquay and Cornwall-based organisations to consider applying. This then means we can all work together to deliver funding for vital and far-reaching projects and programmes, many of which can positively impact daily lives whilst meeting today’s ongoing challenges. Each year we review all of the applications against our key pillars of Community and Culture and this year will be no different.”
Andrew continues, “We seek to support some projects and charities with one-off donations, whilst continuing to work with our long-term partners with longer-term investment programmes. We’re hoping to see a strong set of applications in this round for funds that can really make a perceivable, ongoing difference in and around Newquay and right across Cornwall.”
