In a candid documentary Owen and Tyler Wright tell all in ABC’s ‘For All The Family’.
World champion Tyler Wright admitted that she couldn’t bear to watch her brother’s return to the surfing world, “I wasn’t ready.” Pro surfer Owen Wright suffered a life altering devastating head injury after he wiped out at Pipeline on the eve of world title showdown back in December 2015. Tyler helped him get back on his feet during his year recovering away from competitive surfing. Then despite all the odds, Owen made the biggest comeback on the World Tour when he won the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast last weekend. ‘I think I cried for about 15 minutes after it was done. But yeah, big moment. A year can change a lot,’ she said. Tyler also opens up about her own struggles too on reaching the her dream, ‘I knew from a very young age I could win a world title but I just wasn’t ready,’ Tyler said. ‘I didn’t want to win a world title and not know who I was.’
Ahh bless! so stoked for them both and it’s great to see Owen surfing and back on the World Tour.
