Following the ISA’s statement on December 5th, 2023, the French Polynesian Government decided to move forward with a lighter and less impactful version of the judging tower in Teahupo’o.

Marine surveys of the location and a construction test are being conducted in the upcoming days. Until the outcome of those tests are complete, the ISA reserves any further comment.

The ISA is responsible for the Olympic surfing competitions. All decisions on infrastructure are the responsibility of the French Polynesian Government and the Paris 2024 Organising Committee.

The ISA will continue to advocate for an environmentally sustainable solution.
