This Saturday 30th September, Surf Betty’s Festival will run it’s 3rd annual event next week which celebrates and encourages getting more females into surfing. This year Surf Betty’s will take more of a health and fitness angle as well as the surfing for all abilities.

Surf Betty’s was founded by Newquay local Corinne Evans who loves to encourage females to get into the sea, feel confident about themselves, their bodies and wanted to create a safe place for this. “I’m so excited to be hosting another Surf Betty’s event. There’s always such a wonderful atmosphere during the day and I cannot wait to get more women surfing”

Surf Betty’s is a charity event and this year all money raised will be going to Virgin Unite in order to directly help the victims of Hurricane Irma.

The day will allow all women involved to take part in a surf lesson, yoga class and a HIIT style workout together on the beach. These sessions will be run by a number of awesome local females. Corinne and her surf tour coaches will be taking charge of the surfing, with Jodie Boland from Ananda Movement Bliss, Annie Parker from the Sports Hub at Treviglas and Josie Pearce from Six Step Blog putting the ladies through their paces with beach yoga and fitness classes.

Throughout the course of the day there will be a selection of empowering talks from some strong female figures throughout the day; Corinne Evans will give a surf specific talk with Q&A to help women progress within the sport and build confidence. Lauren Mansfield will talk to the ladies about her involvement and launch of OneWave Newquay. With Jess Ratty ending the day, sharing stories from her own journey including starting her own business in Cornwall, her use of LinkedIn to get her the successful positions she has done and spread her general positive, Cornish girl, good vibes.

The day is for women of any age and any background, whether you’re a beginner in the waves or have your own board and are starting to head for the green wave, there really is something for everyone.

The day will start at 9.30am and will finish at around 6pm with Aluna Cocktails at The Slope, Great Western.

Tickets start from £6 for just the fitness packages and £12 to include a full day with surf lessons.
