While the Boardmasters Music Festival and shortboard divisions have launched in great conditions over the last three days, the Boardmasters Longboard Pro, a WSL Men and Women’s LQS1,000 event presented by SurfGirl, will kick-off the European Longboard Title race today at Fistral.

With solid conditions expected on Sunday, some of the region’s best talents will take on a crowd of local surfers in the battle for rankings points and a piece of the prizemoney purse. Event No.1 of 2 in the 2015 season, the Boardmasters Longboard Pro will play a deciding role in awarding the coveted tickets for the World Longboard finals.

“Everyone’s really excited about kicking-off the season in Newquay,” Rob Gunning, European tour manager stated. “The Boardmasters have been on our schedule for years in the past and it’s definitely one of the athlete’s favorites. With only two events this season, every result will count and we expect great battles out there. The Women’s division is an exciting new addition to the surf festival, I’m sure the crowds will love all the action from their favorite local surfers and some of the best pros on tour.”

“We’re expecting adverse weather to push more surf in for Sunday, so we might have bigger surf towards the end of Saturday, ” said Dave Reed Boardmasters Surf Director, “Ahead of that competitions get going at 8am tomorrow beginning with the WSL Mens Longboard competitions. It will be an incredible contest as the World’s best longboarders descend including Antonio Delperro with his rival and defending champion Ben Skinner.
