Day two of Boardmasters 2015, Cornwall’s own surf and music festival, welcomed thousands down at Fistral Beach to watch the finest UK and International surfers take to the water under a blazing summer sun.  Alongside the surfing action, Open BMX and skate competitions were held on the CANNA ramp overlooking the stuning Cornish coastline.

Here, Surf Director Dave Reed talks through today’s surf competitions: “Day two of Boardmasters started early to capitalise on the good surf conditions with between 2-4ft waves. We began the day with the Mens Open Presented by Carve division featuring the defending Champion, Australia’s Jock Barnes, yesterday’s highest scoring surfers, Angelo Bonomelli and Hodei Collazo and UK heavyweights Alan Stokes and Jobe Harris all qualifying to set up a fantastic series of quarter finals.

“We later turned to the Rocket Dog Women’s Open 2nd Round with USA’s Sara Taylor, Portugal’s Keshia Ayre and UK’s Hannah Harding all impressing.

“We saw strong performances in the Up&Go Junior Pro Boys’ & Girls’ divisions from Bude’s Emily Currie and Peony Knight from Croyde and for the boys – Liam Murray Strout and Harry DeRoth also impressed. Defending Whipper Snappers U12 2014 champion Stanley Norman shone through his heat in the Junior Pro Boys’ qualifying into the quarter finals of the contest which will conclude tomorrow afternoon.
