Fancy some body art but not up for a tattoo? Lily Richards on her work experience week at SurfGirl, gave the SGHQ a taste of henna tattooing this week. Heres how it went;
henna7b I started to use henna about two years ago, and fell in love with it. I became interested when I saw my friends using it at a festival, so I gave it a go and loved it. I also do Zentangles and the designs are pretty similar. Since then, I’ve been drawing henna tattoos all the time. I’ve come up with a few designs over the years, but most of the time with henna you just go with the flow and make up your own ideas! hennacopy

The designs I have selected are so fun to do and are fab to go to a festival or even go to the beach with. They last for about 1-2 weeks, depends what you get up to and the good thing about henna, is that you don’t have to have the commitment for a real tattoo. You could get a new one every month and never get bored!

About Henna: Henna, is a natural substance from plants that has been use as a long-standing tradition for ancient cultures for over 5,000 years, to dye, hair and fingernails as well as fabrics, mostly cultures from India, North Africa and the Middle-East. Today henna is used in religious and wedding ceremonies in India, but has been appreciated in other parts of the world to this day. You can get henna from cool little hippie shops around, there’s always one or two in every town! Also you can find henna on the internet at low prices because its used so widely around the world.
