Three Big English Surf Events Announced for 2026 – But Two Still Need Backing

Surfing England has confirmed three key dates for the 2026 season — including the return of the English Para Surfing Open — while putting out a clear call for sponsors to help secure two major September championships.

July’s Para Surfing Open is locked in. But both the English National Longboard & SUP Championships and the English Interclub Surfing Championships are currently subject to funding, meaning brand and community support will determine whether they run.

The English Para Surfing Open heads back to Fistral for a full day of high-level competition, community and progression.

The event will feature all nine official ISA Para Surfing divisions, aligned with International Surfing Association standards, alongside four Open divisions designed specifically for UK-based surfers who do not yet hold ISA classification. These Open divisions continue to grow the pathway into competitive para surfing, creating a welcoming entry point while maintaining elite performance standards at the top end.

Registration opens Monday 18 May at 19:00 via LiveHeats.

Entry Fees:

  • ISA Divisions: £45 (classified surfers worldwide)

  • Open Divisions: £40 (UK-based, non-classified surfers)

With its inclusive structure and powerful atmosphere, the Para Open remains one of the most inspiring dates on the English calendar.

2026 English National Longboard & SUP Surfing Championships
Saturday 5 September 2026 (Backup: 6 September)
Location: TBC

This is where national titles are decided.

The English National Longboard & SUP Championships define rankings, crown champions and influence Team England selection. From Open divisions to the next generation in Under 18s, the event showcases the full spectrum of English talent.

Divisions include:

  • Longboard Open (Men & Women)

  • Longboard U18 (Boys & Girls)

  • SUP Open (Men & Women)

  • SUP U18 (Boys & Girls)

For athletes — especially young surfers looking to step onto the national stage — this event is a major marker in the competitive pathway. But it cannot run without confirmed sponsors.

2026 English Interclub Surfing Championships

If the Nationals are about titles, Interclubs are about community.

Surf clubs from across England travel, camp, compete and cheer each other on in a high-energy, team-based format that celebrates grassroots surfing. It’s loud, proud and built around club spirit — with surfers of all ages sharing the same stretch of beach.

For brands, it offers direct connection with families, young surfers, long-time club members and the future of the sport.

But like the Nationals, Interclubs is entirely sponsorship dependent.

Why Support Matters

Both September events hinge on securing committed partners. Without sponsorship, they simply won’t take place.
