Big Old Blue is a short film by Ishka Folkwell that features the surfing of Aiyana Powell and Johanna Brebner. Set on the shoreline of the great southern ocean, this film celebrates the beauty of untouched and undeveloped coastlines and highlights the importance of helping to protect these wild places so the natural world can thrive.
Tasmania’s remaining wild places are precious and increasingly rare. The Tarkine (takayna) is the largest undeveloped temperate rainforest in Australia, and its value is immeasurable. These forests are home to rare and endangered plants and animals, and hold within them some of the richest Aboriginal heritage in the hemisphere. The cleanest air in the world blows across the Tarkine’s shores. To find out more about takayna visit the Bob Brown Foundation here.
