Boardmasters is so close we can almost hear the festival beats! As you can imagine the SurfGirl HQ are so excited about the festival, so much so that we’re sharing the top 5 things we’re most excited about for Boardmasters 2018!

This Boardmasters line up is just my cup of tea, and there are lots of people I want to see on each day! I’m particularly keen for The Chemical Brothers, Bicep, Booka Shade, Lily Allen and Krystal Klear.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what’s in the Kula Den – It will be fun to learn a bit of Cornish, do some crafts and hopefully hear some interesting people speak. Will be great to go there in the daytime before all the evening madness begins!

It will be cool to check out some of the surfing in the week – so refreshing to see international pros and British pros alike showing us how it’s done at our local beach.

Annie Mac: In my 20s when I lived in London, every Friday we would listen to Annie on Radio 1 to get us ready for a night out and went to all the gigs she did at the big London clubs, Ibiza, Creamfields etc. Now I can get an Annie Mac fix in Newquay!

Roxy Yoga at the View Stage: I did this last year, and it was an excellent way to kick-start the day – fresh air, beautiful views and a good stretch with the Roxy team.

Hanging out at Fistral: I live on Fistral beach and feel so lucky to have that gem on my doorstep. I love it all seasons, but it’s great to see it come alive over Boardmasters – the vibe is, and there’s so much going on with the shops, music, skating and surfing.

I love watching the sunset, sat down on the grass with friends in front of The Point stage, rattler in hand and good music playing in the background. There’s always at least one fantastic sunset during the weekend.

I’ really looking forward to seeing Grandmaster Flash at Boardmasters too! He’s headlined the festival before and was incredible; I like his old school style of music. I am also so excited for The Chemical Brothers; I watched them on TV when they headlined Glastonbury, their light show and energy during their set was insane!

Seeing all the glitter/peoples outfits. I think because it’s a huge thing down here everyone makes an effort with their outfits, everyone wearing colourful and sparkled up it’s excellent!

Hanging out at the Beach Bar there’s a great view over the beach to watch the surfing competition, plus there are loads of cool bands playing throughout the day. Then in the evening, the Beach Sessions are a great warm up to the main festival event. Can’t wait to see Huey from Fun Loving Criminal as he’s entertaining and fun.

It’s always so impressive to watch Europe’s top surfers compete at Fistral for the longboard and shortboard competitions. The Longboard Men’s is particularly competitive as there’s usually one of our lads in the final four.

The Editors are one of my fave festival bands, so looking forward to seeing them as well as loads of other fab bands playing at Watergate this year. Also last year I loved the randomness of The Underworld, if you found it you’ll know what I mean!

On Thursday, TR7 will kick off proceedings in style, setting sail on a Boat Party with Eton Messy. The Bristol-born duo will be spinning the best in garage for the ultimate rave on the waves. They’ll be joined by special guests, to be revealed soon. Also taking place on Thursday, the legendary Sailors will welcome James Hype, Nathan Dawe plus guests, while Berties will be playing host to Mike Skinner hot off the heels of The Streets reunion tour. Inspired by the freedom, adventure and creativity of surfing and music, Boardmasters was born in 1981. Expect parties that run late into the night and a beautiful beach to recuperate on during the day. The 5-day event is situated across two stunning locations in Cornwall – the surfing mecca of the UK, Fistral Beach, where world class International Surf Competitions take place, and arguably the most stunning location in the country to watch live music, Watergate Bay. Last year the surf and music festival welcomed over 150,000 festival goers to sunny Cornwall. Book your tickets now!
