On 22nd October we’re taking over Project 83 in Newquay for a fun evening celebrating the female surf community with an evening full of inspiration, connection, and good vibes.

Here’s a run down of the evening.

Lucia Griggi
I’ve known Lucia Griggi for quite a few years now. In the early days of the mag Lucia was everywhere, keen as mustard with camera in hand and a smile on her face (when there wasn’t some drama happening!). Her hard work paid off and she ended up with the gig of a lifetime, getting her dream job as a photographer on the World Tour, travelling the globe with the world’s best surfers. Fun times!
Then Lucia went in a different direction and our paths didn’t cross for ages.
Recently out of the blue, Lucia reappeared. She was back and it took a while but eventually she took up her camera again and went on a surf trip with a crew of Aussie surfers including the talented Claire Vandermeiren and pro surfer Sam Sibley. The photos from the trip are in the latest issue and I’m so stoked to see Lucia’s work gracing our pages once again.
Lucia will be at our event recounting her days on the world tour, and her life as a surf photographer. So come with some questions to ask her about all things photography.

Hayley Lawrence and Danni Unway
Sometimes we can suffer too much from feeling unwelcome in the line up. So welcome then to Danni Unway, a Surf Confidence Coach and Psychotherapist, who will be giving us some tips on negotiating the line up with more confidence.
On stage with Danni is our SurfGirl sub ed and write Hayley Lawrence. Despite juggling three boys and a career, Hayley is the biggest frother we know, even surfing twice a day during the latest surf campaign for SurfAid. With this in mind these two are the most inspiring women to keep us motivated especially with winter on the way.
If you need some inspiration this talk will be very beneficial and come with some questions to ask as well.

Zee Van G Chats to Allannah Brown
If you live in Newquay you may have noticed Zee’s creative artwork around the town, it’s so stunning. So we couldn’t be more stoked when she collaborated with Hawaiian pro surfer Coco Ho on her new female-focused surfboards XO Coco Surfboards featuring Zee’s resin artwork and got the recognition she deserves.
Get an insight into how this collab came about and more as Zee chat’s with best mate Allannah Brown, from Gather and Glide.

Girl Grom Crew and Emily Currie
What’s it like being a young, female surfer in today’s surfing world? Allannah talks to crew of keen beans Sunny Ingram, Ellie Hicks, Coco Arthur and Willow Smith about what life’s like for them as competitive surfers, negotiating the world of travel, school and sponsors expectations. They will be joined by multiple English surfing champion Emily Currie who will give us an insight into the the world of competitive surfing as someone who has been through the process.
