Surfdome, are excited to announce they have acquired two exact replicas of the limited edition collector’s item surfboards; the legendary Rusty 84, which brought one of the most iconic names Mark ‘Occy’ Occhilupo to surfing victory.  Surfdome, the largest online action sports and lifestyle retailer in Europe, will showcase one of the surfboards at Europe’s first and only surf museum, the British Museum of Surfing in Devon until Spring 2015.

The very first 1984 Rusty board that a 17 year old Occy stormed onto the world surfing stage on, thirty years ago has been remade for surf fanatics and collectors. The same template, fin set up and even with retro Rusty and Billabong logos, all hand shaped by Rusty himself has been replicated in limited numbers globally. Only 20 of these have made it to Europe and as one of Rusty’s key retailers, Surfdome stock two of these boards,  retailing at £999.

Surfdome will also be lending one of the boards to be displayed at the Museum of British Surfing in Braunton, North Devon from 17th January 2015 for a limited time to offer this little slice of history chance for the general public to see the expertise shaping up close before they are sold into private collections. To honor the arrival of this surfboard, the Museum will be holding a series of Occy events and film screenings.

Surfdome, the leading online sports retailer, and one of Rusty’s key accounts is honoured to be a part of this project with one of the legendary surfboard suppliers.

Justin Stone, Managing Director of Surfdome said, ‘Rusty boards are among the best performance surf boards in the world, with innovative and ever progressive shapes that keep our customers stoked. Occy was such a huge inspiration to me and a lot of our customers growing up as surfers, so teaming up with Rusty on this is awesome. We wanted to exhibit the surfboard at the British Museum of Surfing to share this modern piece of history with our loyal customers and surf fans all over the UK.’

On recalling the day he first received the original Rusty board, Mark ‘Occy’ Occhilupo said, ‘I went and picked this up off Rusty and it was unbelievable it was so much more advanced than what I was riding, my very first wave, I just knew, it was just magic. My surfing went up like 60% as soon as I got on it, I kept riding it all year and I think I ended up Number three in the world.’
