International Women’s day is important to us, as an all-female team we know the importance of supporting one another and uniting as a team.

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is #PressforProgress.

The world of surfing is stacked out with inspiring women. Women who are carving their own path, empowered, brave women who are not afraid to push the limits of their sport, which makes their efforts all the more poignant with this years theme focussing on #PressforProgress.

The Women’s Day community explains: “We can’t be complacent. Now, more than ever, there’s a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity. A strong call to #PressforProgress. A strong call to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive.”

International Women’s Day provides an opportunity to empower women and celebrates activists working to attain women’s rights on a global scale and this year it feels more poignant with it being 100 years since the Representation of the People Act was passed allowing women over the age of 30 to vote and the worldwide #MeToo and Time’s Up movement. 

With a change in the air, we feel its a very exciting time to be a woman and we should all feel united, empowered and optimistic about our future because we are all in this together and nothing is stronger than a sisterhood. So let International Women’s Day be a reminder to us all that we are capable of anything, we should support each other and stand up for what we believe in!
