Victoria, where are you from and what’s the vibe like there?
I come from Reunion, a small tropical French island in the middle of Indian Ocean. Between the perfect waves breaking in a clear blue water, the magical mountains with their waterfalls, the white sand beaches and the tropical fruits, I don’t have other word than “heaven”, to describe it.
When and why did you first start surfing?
I learned how to swim before I could walk. Surfing is my major passion in my family and my parents took me on a bodyboard when I was 4. We spent all our weekend at the beach, that was the beginning of my love for the ocean and at 15 I started my professional career.
What do you love about longboarding?
Since I’m a little girl I’ve always loved dancing and being in the ocean, longboarding is just the best mix of those passions. Noseriding is like flying on the sea, there is something magical about it.
Where have to travelled to this last year and where was your favourite wave?
Last year, I’ve been to New York, Portugal, Australia, Nicaragua, California, Spain, England, Brazil, China, Caribbean and since the beginning of 2016, I’ve taken more than 25 flights. It’s crazy when I start thinking about it..My favourite wave was definitely a powerful and long left in Nicaragua, on a reef break, with no one out. It reminded me Saint-Leu a lot.
What is your top tip for staying in good shape – what is your fitness/nutrition regime like?
Always be active and drink a lot of water. I eat whatever I want, it just needs to be healthy. I’ve stopped eating red meat and cows milk. I love to think about what sort of vitamins are in the food and what it’s giving to my body.
What are you listening to at the moment? What’s the best song to get amped for a surf?
I can’t stop listening One Dance from Drake! I’m always dancing in my car, on my way to surf, in the parking when I put my wetsuit or bikini on a music that makes me happy, with good energy.
Who is your favourite surfer and what’s inspires you about them?
My favourite surfer since day one is Kassia Meador. I love everything about her, she is rad and she rips. But having the chance to travel around the world and meet so many different amazing surfers inspire me too.
If you could have a superpower what would it be and what would you use it for?
I would love to have the superpower to make the peace in the world.
