French surfer Jade Magnien, who grew up in Hossegor, has signed a two year contract with Rip Curl.
“Joining Rip Curl represents the culmination of all the work I’ve put in over the past few years and reinforces my decision to fully commit to big wave surfing,” she said. “Having a team that believes in me and in my surfing is incredibly motivating.”
Born in 2002, Jade Magnien first stood on a surfboard at the age of two. She now surfs primarily at La Gravière, her home break. After several years on the competitive circuit, she has chosen to focus all her energy on what truly drives her and delivers a real adrenaline rush. “What attracts me is constantly having to push my limits in an environment that is both unpredictable and incredibly beautiful.”
In 2022, Jade made a strong impression during her very first tow in session at Belharra, in solid 20‑foot conditions. Since then, she has continued to demonstrate her commitment in heavy swells, most recently during a session at Parlementia in close to close to 13 feet last December.
Her goals for 2026 are clear: to keep building on this momentum, return to Belharra and potentially take on Nazaré as early as this winter.
“We’re proud to welcome her to the Rip Curl family. She embodies everything we stand for: a versatile approach that takes her from small waves to heavy barrels at La Gravière, always bringing both performance and personality to every session. Beyond her talent, her positive energy, and her strong roots as a true Hossegor local make her a perfect fit for the brand and a natural ambassador for Rip Curl in Europe,” said Yann Martin, Europe Team Manager.
