We can’t wait for the World Tour to start up again in in April at Bells. With a great mix of young surfers and tour veterans returning to the fold, it’s going to be an amazing season.
This year the final showdown will return to its natural conclusion back on the North Shore in December, so who’s in contention for this year’s hotly contested title? In no particular order, let’s break it down.
The Contenders
Molly Picklum.
Last year’s winner shows no signs of slowing down, pushing hard and ramping up her performance. Giving off winner energy, no one can discount Molly taking the crown for a second year in a row.
Carissa Moore.
With a wildcard entry to the CT in 2026, the 5 times world champion and Olympic gold medalist, is back after a two year break to have her baby girl. After winning the Florence Pipe Pro in December, this super charged mum looks like she has more to give. Mom super power – let’s go!
Caitlin Simmers.
This 20 year old has the generational skills to turn heads wherever she surfs. After being the youngest surfer to win a world title in 2024 she dropped back to 4th place in 2025, however in 2026 she looks ready to slice, slay and win once again.
Stephanie Gilmore.
The iconic 8-times world champion, took a two year break to pursue her other passions. The queen of effortless style and adored by surfers the world over, it will be interesting to see if she’s has the determination to take the top spot again? We’d love it if she did, so time will tell.
Erin Brookes.
Young, sharp and hot for a title. Last year’s tour rookie surf phenom totally impressed on the world circuit coming 8th and has bossed the North Shore during this year’s off season. Can’t wait to see what she brings to the CT this year.
