The Natty Surf Jam is a one day charity surf festival, hosting a Longboarding Competition at Fistral Beach followed by a night of live music at Whiskers Bar and Venue in Newquay, Cornwall.

On April 1st 2017 the first ever ‘Natty Surf Jam’: A Festival of Music and Surfing to make a positive change in our local community will take place at Fistral Beach., Newquay. The event is in memory of local surfer Nathaniel Loney; a contagiously vibrant, loving soul who tragically lost his life at the age of 25 after a 3 year battle against severe depression & bi-polar disorder. The ultimate goal of The Natty Surf Jam is to raise awareness and support for young adults struggling with mental health related illnesses, so that no one has to face the journey alone.

The event will be raising money for two important charities; The Invictus Trust to help them achieve their goal of installing a treatment facility in Truro. And SOBS uk -Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide helping individuals and families of the deceased relatives.

A Longboard Competition will be held at Fistral Beach, Newquay throughout the day and will comprise of an open men’s and women’s division. There will also be an Expression Session for all surfers and board types halfway through the day where extra amazing bonus prizes will be up for grabs!

To level out the prize giving all competitors names will be put into a hat then drawn into fantasy surf teams with at least one professional or experienced surfer in each team. The team with the most collective scored points will win prizes from the sponsors. This way its fair on all ability levels of surfing.

Entry for the Open longboard will be £20 and will include breakfast and lunch, an official Natty Surf Jam Tee-shirt, entry to the evening music event, a massage and checkup from local chiropractor Alex Bergmann and a chance to win the cash prize amongst other great prizes from our sponsors. We will be releasing details on how to enter very soon.

At the moment entry for the expression session will be based on donations on the day but this could change if there is a feeling of interest.

The band jam will be held at Whiskers, featuring Abbie Piper, Wildwood Kin + more amazing acts to be confirmed, so watch this space for updates! Evening entry will be ticketed at £8 in advance and £10 on the door – all proceeds going to charity.
