Watch this beautiful film about Scotland’s up and coming star surfer.
Film by Sam Howard
Meet Scotland’s rising star Callie Cruickshank, who’s been ripping up her home breaks since she was seven years old. Hailing from the north east of Scotland in a small town called Fraserburgh with a tight knit crew of groms.
Growing up surfing the cold northern waters in a 6mm wetsuit is no easy feat. “The hardest thing about surfing in Scotland is that when it snows you lose all your excitement but when you get in the water you warm up and you just get stoked,” explains Callie.
Calllie has been sponsored by Saltrock for two years now and is a dedicated competitive surfer. At just 13 years old has has racked up an impressive list of achievements; Callie is currently Scotland’s Under 14 champion and a junior squad member as well as part of the SSF Team Scottish Surfing Federation.
Travelling all over the world to compete she takes it all in her stride, “I don’t get too nervous in competitions because I don’t put any pressure on myself. My dad always says the best surfer is the one having the most fun so it’s a good mindset to have when competing. Of course, it feels amazing to win heat and events, but it’s not the most important part for me. If I’m performing at my best, I’m happy whatever the result.”
The future’s looking bright for Callie and this beautiful film is a great testament to her dedication and talent.
