Here’s what we’re looking forward to the most at this year’s Boardmasters.

Can you believe Boardmasters is nearly here?

We can’t believe it’s here already,  but we sure are excited about the festival this year.  It’s looking like it’s set to be amazing and we cannot wait to be involved for another year.  With the festival fresh in our minds we decided to share with our readers what we in the office are amped about for Boardmasters 2017!

Jamiroquai

I am so excited for the music, especially Jamiroquai. I am even going to fashion some kind of Jamiroquai esq hat for the evening!

Culinary Delights

There are always so many delicious food vendors at the festival site at Watergate. I love nothing more than snacking on some yummy food in-between the music and the beers!

Surfing

I love watching all the competitors hit the surf and shred my local break. I just hope we have some good waves for the event, it makes it all the more exciting to watch when the waves are pumping.

Yoga at Watergate

Roxy are running yoga lessons in the morning at Watergate, what a great venue to do this and a good way to naturally get rid of a hangover!

Frank Turner

Love Frank, he can do no wrong. It will be so cool to watch him play at Boardmasters, can’t wait.

Surf Contest

It’s great to see the best surfers at Fistral for the contest as the level of surfing really goes up. It will be interesting to see how the British top talent Eliie Turner, Lucy Campbell and Peony Knight perform against the international surfers too. Go girls!

Sunsets at Watergate

That incredible view of the sunset over Watergate from the music site made even better by chilled afternoon festival vibes…

Corona Stage

Groooooving to all the disco tunes at The Corona Sunsets stage, and partying next to that giant light up flower…

Stormzy

After the release of Gang Signs and Prayer, the artist I’m most looking forward to is without a doubt Stormzy. It will be epic to see him performing to a festival crowd! YES!!

Shopping

I’m looking forward to being in the retail village. There’s such a good vibe down at Fistral and loads of incredible food and music! Also you can just about see the surfers from the stand… I’ll be down at the SurfGirl and Carve retail stand, so don’t forget to come and check it out and say hi!

The Beach Bar

The Beach Bar is one of my favourite places to hang out, it has such an amazing view. The Day Sessions are always great and it will be good to see of the musicians and enjoy a nice cold cider. It’s also a great place to go in the evening as it always has such a chilled atmosphere.

Alt J

I’m also really looking forward to seeing Alt J on the main stage, I’ve wanted to see them for such a long time so I’m stoked that they are at Boardmasters this year. I also can’t wait to see Giggs play at the Unleashed stage, the crowd will be insane!

Beach Sessions

I am really excited about the Beach Sessions during the week – my first year as a local and so I can’t wait to head down to Fistral after work to enjoy the festivities. Nothing beats music and a beer on the beach.

Shopping village

There’s always such a positive vibe down at the village, a fun mixture of locals and tourists all enjoying the beach side stalls together.  A great mixtures of brands you know about and new up-and-coming ones, plus the awesome food!

Skate and BMX Competition

It’s not often you get to watch world-class skaters and BMXers compete with the stunning Fistral beach as a back drop. After a hard night partying, people are always keen to chill out around the ramps and take it all in which makes for a fun atmosphere, especially on a sunny day.

Women’s surf comp

This year the womens surf comp will be the one to watch with fantastic skill to come from worldwide participants. Being an large supporter of home grown skill I will be cheering on our local UK girls Lucy Campbell, Emily Currie, October Hamlyn-Wright, Ffion Hughes, Peony Knight, Mischa Maguire, Tehillah McGuinness, Ellie Turner, and Emily Williams. Making their way up the rankings in the WSL and furthering their abilities through local and international comps these girls know what it takes to push hard and make waves. The youngest female entrant is Ffion Hughes so a special cheer for her this year.

Surfing

Although we will see the pros busting their moves, surfing isn’t just about them. Why not take the opportunity yourself and make the most of Cornwalls waves. If you need a little guidance why not have a surf lesson from the local surf schools at Fistral Beach, Newquay and Watergate Bay.

Two Door Cinema Club

Last but not least lets have an awesome time with the many bands and artists at the Boardmasters music festival on Watergate Bay. I am especially looking forward to headliners Two Door Cinema Club and and Alt-J. I’m looking forward to hearing the beautifully harmonic voice of Frances on the main stage among many others this year. Praying for sunshine that we can all enjoy the musical delights that come with the Boardmasters festival, stay safe and enjoy!
